Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 5-23-18

Music Gives My Soul Wings, stitched by Shirley Crockett, finished by Vonna, design by Ursula Michael.

That Wednesday thing happened again so we decided to have another chat. Topics that fell out of our heads include the Music Gives My Soul Wings design by Ursula Michael of Imaginating, stitched by Shirley Crockett, and finished as a flat fold by The Twisted Stitcher; the Scattered Seed Samplers Lydia Barnes Pidgeon 1827 reproduction sampler chart, our needlepoint projects, several isn’t-this-interesting-to-think-about items, some Mary Corbet topics; and the Sarah Braizear sampler SAL. Sunday’s guest: Vonna Pfeiffer –Gary and Christine

  1. Great Podcast!!! Gary: It sounds like you have been bitten by the Sampler bug!! Don’t worry about over collecting. I am doing patterns I collected in the 90’s; life gets busy!! Think of it as a way of relaxation therapy (cheaper than a Psychiatrist) and of preserving needlework!! Thanks for giving all of us encouragement and ideas. And hey, Sampler patterns used to cost about $10.00 or less, now you are lucky if you can find one for less than $25.00, so think of your future savings!!!
Please ask Mary Corbet to diagram the PIN stitch. I need a hard reference to learn by!!! (Eileen Bennett’s Book of Stitches does not have it diagrammed and this is my resource for sampler stitches. There are a wide variety of challenging stitches other than cross-stitch to use in samplers)

  2. Thank you for the lovely mention on Wednesday’s show, Gary! It was totally unexpected, and much appreciated.
    You’re the best!
    Shirley Crockett
