Fiber Talk with Madeleine Harwell

Northern Lights canvas designed by Madeleine Elizabeth.

Our guest this week is Madeleine Harwell of Madeleine Elizabeth. The show is sponsored by Needle in a Haystack at needlestack.com. Madeleine is a talented painted-canvas designer who grew up in a needlepoint shop and, at a very early age, was helping adult customers select threads and stitches for their canvases. Her mother handles the business end of Madeleine Elizabeth, Madeleine creates the art, and together they are making a significant mark in the needlepoint world. Madeleine expresses her art in other ways by painting storefronts and banners. Enjoy hearing her story and visit your local needlepoint store to see her canvases.–Gary

Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 8-19-20

Punch needle design stitched by Jenifer Kopasz-Roos.

It’s the day before Thursday and we’re excited to have Jenifer Kopasz-Roos join the co-hosting team. In this show we get to know Jenifer and her stitching interests; mentally prepare Gary for tonight’s punch needle lesson with Karin Hedburg, punch needle instructor at Sassy Jacks; announce the next live tour with Gallery76 of the Embroiderers Guild Galleries NSW; talk more about Michelle Gajda’s wool applique art; and delve into making Temari balls. Note that Friday’s guest will be Dima Santina. Beth will be with us but we’ll talk about her fabric-dying efforts another time. Clearly Gary can’t keep dates straight. Enjoy the show and join us tonight, Aug. 19 at 8:00 Eastern on the Fiber Talk YouTube channel for the basics of the punch-needle technique. Sunday’s guest is Medeleine Harwell of Madeleine Elizabeth designs.–Jenifer and Gary
