Fiber Talk with Brendon and Karen Kirk II

Elizabeth Cooper by Fox and Rabbit Designs

Brendon and Karen Kirk make a return visit this week and Sassy Jacks Stitchery is sponsoring the show. Brendon and Karen are the couple behind the very popular Linen and Threads Mystery SAL, an attractive collection of reproduction samplers under the Fox and Rabbit Designs name, and original and creative designs by Karen under the Blackberry Rabbit name. We first talked with them in April 2019 (Use the search term Kirk on the Fiber Talk website to listen to that show). These days, in addition to continuing a parade of reproduction samplers and exciting new designs from Karen, they are also producing some of the most popular linen on the market. It was great fun learning about all of the changes in their businesses and what it’s like to product large quantities of dyed linen. We are confident you’ll enjoy the conversation and encourage you to check out their linen at your local needlework store.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk with Emillie Ferris

Moth design by Emillie Ferris.

Emillie Ferris is a young, talented embroidery artist who started as a raw beginner eight years ago. To generate income, she taught herself to needle paint doing commissioned pet portraits. Today she is actively developing a design business that currently features a project on the cover of “Inspirations” magazine and a new class on the Domestika platform (wetalkfiber.com/ferris). Our conversation was a delightful exploration of her rapid growth in the needlework hobby. If you’re interested in participating in her new Domestika class, sign up at wetalkfiber.com/ferris and join us for a special live show with Emillie, Feb. 21 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on the Fiber Talk YouTube channel.–Gary

Fiber Talk with Trish Burr II

One of Trish Burr’s monochrome designs.
Trish Burr’s Kew Book of Embroidered Flowers

Trish Burr joins us this week for a podcast sponsored by Sassy Jacks Stitchery. It’s been more than two years since we talked with Trish and she’s been busy developing a monochrome series and experimenting with embellishing painted/printed landscape scenes, while continuing to produce the needle-painting designs we all enjoy. Her biggest project has been producing the “Kew Book of Embroidered Flowers,” the latest edition to the Trish Burr library of needlework books. This time she collaborated with the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and was able to develop designs from their vast collection of more than 200,000 pieces of botanical art. We explore what it takes to produce a book of this quality and what it offers to needleworkers at all levels. We also get a hint of what’s next for one of the top designers in the embroidery world. Enjoy the conversation and visit Trish’s social-media channels to explore and enjoy her work. –Gary
