Fiber Talk with Carole Lake, Encore Presentation

Anasazi Song by Carole Lake

This is a holiday encore presentation of a conversation we had in June 2018 with needlepoint designer Carole Lake. We hope you enjoy the show and are getting plenty of relaxing stitching time during the holidays.
It’s Sunday and joining us this week is needlepoint designer and teacher Carole Lake of Stitchplay Designs. Carole is an icon in the needlework community with an extensive career studying, designing, and educating stitchers in partnership with Michael Boren and now on her own. She also has authored and published several popular needlework books and has another in the works. While her traveling is now limited, her teaching is not. She regularly offers online classes and hasn’t taken her foot off the pedal in the new design area. It’s a lively conversation about all things Carole Lake and we hope you enjoy the show.–Gary

Fiber Talk with Orna Willis III

Fields of Gold by Orna Willis

Orna Willis is our guest this week. It’s been three years since we last talked with Orna and much has happened. It was a lot of fun to catch up with this extremely talented designer and teacher, pick her brain about studio design ideas, learn about how her design work has found a new level, talk about her approach to design, and get some details about her upcoming classes, particularly Fields of Gold, which she is offering through Shining Needle Society. Orna is one of the best in the business and it’s always a treat to talk with her.–Gary

Fiber Talk with Jane Ellen Balzuweit

Royal Garden by Jane Ellen Balzuweit.

Jane Ellen Balzuweit is our guest this week and EGA is sponsoring the show. We learned about the talented Jane Ellen through the lead article by Sandra L. Gordon in the Dec. 2020 issue of EGA’s “Needle Arts” magazine. After reading the article, we simply had to talk to this talented needle-art designer and teacher. While she is skilled in several techniques, including stumpwork, it’s whitework that gets her heart racing and her design work is absolutely terrific. This week you’ll also hear the story about the one time in her life Gay Ann Rogers stitched on linen. Join us for a fun conversation with one of our hobby’s truly delightful artists.–Beth and Gary
