Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 8-28-19

Debbie Rowely’s Tropical Punch.

We’ve reached the day that starts the downhill slide to the weekend. Debbie and Gary are this Wednesday’s chatters and the subjects include online classes, what ghosting means and how it can be a real plus, the American Needlepoint Guild seminar and how it’s much more than classes, power blocks for your lights and magnifiers, whether all of those accessories we use are really necessary, and how much time Gary wastes on social media. The Halo charger that Debbie mentioned in today’s show can be purchased from the EGA Pacific Southwestern Region. It appears to be an excellent price. Here’s the link: https://psregaorg.files.wordpress.com/2019/05/bolt-flyer.pdf Sunday’s guest is Thea Dueck of Victoria Sampler.–Debbie and Gary

Fiber Talk with Carolyn Mitchell

Carolyn Mitchell’s On the Edge design.
Carolyn Mitchell is my guest this week. She is an extremely talented counted-canvas designer, former owner of a needlework shop that she moved multiple times, and a teacher. Carolyn is skilled at several needlework techniques, but focuses on needlepoint and hardanger. Her designs these days mix multiple techniques to result in original and creative needle art. I’m confident you’ll enjoy my conversation with one of the best that the counted-canvas community has to offer.–Gary

Fiber Talk with Barbara Hutson II

Barbara Hutson, owner of Queenstown Sampler Designs, returns to join Vonna and Gary for a discussion about North American samplers and how they fit into the history of the needle arts. The show is sponsored by Sassy Jacks Stitchery. This week’s show is an enlightening discussion of Mexican samplers, their origins, designs/styles, and the role of the Catholic ministries. We also talk extensively about American samplers in New England, particularly Pennsylvania and Maryland. Barbara is extremely knowledgeable about sampler history and it’s great fun to tap into her mental treasure trove. We hope you enjoy the show.–Vonna and Gary
