Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 6-27-18

A Schoolroom Alphabet by Vickie LoPiccolo Jennett and Maegan Jennett

It’s Wednesday, but there is no chatting. Scheduling and life in general prevent us from recording this week, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a show. A few weeks ago, Gary was privileged to visit the home of Vickie LoPiccolo Jennett, meet her daughter Maegan (both of Needlework Press), and record a video tour of some of Vickie’s extensive collection of antique samplers. Instead of listening to us talk, we hope you will enjoy seeing some very old and unique antique samplers. We’ll be back next Wednesday with a new conversation. Sunday’s guest: Jeannine Cheney of Acorns and Threads in Portland, OR.

Fiber Talk with Kim Young

Birds of a Feather design.

We begin a new week by talking with Kim Young of Sassy Jacks Stitchery about the needlework hobby, exciting growth areas and why they are growing, and the role the internet and social media play for hobbyists and business owners. People keep referring to needlework as a dying hobby, but we’re not seeing it and the discussion tells you why. We hope you enjoy it.–Gary and Christine

Fiber Talk with Carole Lake

Anasazi Song by Carole Lake

It’s Sunday and that means it’s time for a guest. Joining us this week is needlepoint designer and teacher Carole Lake of Stitchplay Designs. Carole is an icon in the needlework community with an extensive career studying, designing, and educating stitchers in partnership with Michael Boren and now on her own. She also has authored and published several popular needlework books and has another in the works. While her traveling is now limited, her teaching is not. She regularly offers online classes and hasn’t taken her foot off the pedal in the new design area. It’s a lively conversation about all things Carole Lake and we hope you enjoy the show.–Gary and Christine
