Standups finished by The Twisted Stitcher.
We all know what day it is and that means Gary and Vonna are chatting about the upcoming Dayton, Ohio EGA Chapter 2019 symposium, Bat Cave activities, measuring with body parts, thread management, pin stitches, StitchyPop needles from The Cottage Needle, Cross-Eyed Cricket nativity figures, Jacob and Modern Folk Embroidery, and a whole bunch of other items that popped up in the conversation. It’s always fun to talk with Vonna and this week is no exception. In fact, it may be the most fun yet. Sunday’s guests: Wendy Schmid and April McNee from the Embroiderer’s Guild NSW, Australia

Fiber Talk with Jessica Grimm

Goldwork by Jessica Grimm
Since we last talked with her, Jessica Grimm has been through a significant transition from needlework designer/teacher to textile artist. She joins us this week to talk about that transition, her new view of what she does, and how she’s presenting it to the “outside” world. We also discuss needle-art teaching, exhibitions, and Jessica’s time teaching embroidery in China. She’s always engaging and this show is no different. I’m confident you’ll enjoy the discussion.–Gary

Fiber Talk with Ilke Cochrane

Resurrection Box design by Ilke Cochrane

Ilke Cochrane is the Fiber Talk Sunday guest this week. Ilke is owner of Mabel Figworthy’s Fancies, based in the UK. It was through monthly lessons with Ilke that Gary was first exposed to Hardanger needlework. While most of her time is spent on Hardanger designs, Ilke also creates designs for cross stitch, blackwork, Assisi, Shisha embroidery, surface/freestyle embroidery, and gold work. In addition, she is an active teacher and a “sucker for specialty threads, particularly silks.” Ilke is a tremendous and versatile needle artist and it was a treat talking with her about her needlework efforts. It was also fun to learn the original of her company name.–Gary
