Nicola’s Bathya sampler, showing both sides of the reversibly stitch reproduction.

We’re back for another Wednesday chat. Christine is traveling for the paying job so Nicola Parkman of Hands Across the Sea Samplers was kind enough to fill in. In addition to samplers ;), we talk about bead storage, Yvette Stanton’s next book and recognition for her work, and Nicola’s upcoming travels to the U.S. It’s a fun conversation, so haul out your favorite project and start listening and stitching.–Gary and Christine

Fiber Talk with Jean Lea

The Attic store with tables for classes and samplers covering the walls.
Elizabethan Treasures from Linda Barry, considered by Jean to be one of the best whitework samplers ever published.

If you stitch samplers for very long you’ll likely encounter the Attic Needlework & Collectibles shop in Mesa, AZ, and sampler addict/owner Jean Lea. She is our guest this week for a terrific conversation about how this hub of the sampler world came to be; its many offerings, classes, retreats, and charitable activities, and the obsession Jean has with samplers of all kinds, particularly reproduction samplers. Shop visitors can easily spend a day exploring the large collection of samplers on display and learning about their history, in addition to thousands of other cross-stitch charts and supplies. We hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did.–Christine and Gary
