Encore: Fiber Talk with Anna Scott

Lyre bird design by Anna Scott.

House buying, packing, and moving activities are dominating the days and we’re going to have to take a two-week break from new Fiber Talk shows. We will have our regularly scheduled Stitch Hour tour at Gallery76 Wednesday, June 2 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. There will not be a Stitch Hour June 9. We’ll be back to our regular schedule on June 16. Thanks for understanding. To hold you over until we resume regular activities, this week we offer an encore presentation of a conversation we had last year with the talented Anna Scott, one of the top designers in the needle arts world and a regular contributor to “Inspirations” magazine. Learn about her design approach, ability to mix multiple techniques to achieve a design goal, and her dollhouse side hobby. Enjoy the show and we’ll be back in a couple of weeks.

Fiber Talk with Susan Hoekstra of NETA

King’s Pineapple by NETA teacher Kathy Andrews.

Susan Hoekstra, president of the National Embroidery Teachers Association (NETA), joins us this week to discuss what this resource-rich organization has to offer needleworkers and needlework groups. NETA provides skilled teachers for a vast array of stitching techniques and can help your group enrich your annual program. Not part of a group but want to know who is teaching a technique? NETA can help you find a teacher so you can join an online presentation or ghost a class. This week we also talk about common flaws needlework judges find in stitching and how to correct them. Be sure to add NETA to your list of educational resources.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 5-19-21

Basketweaving Jenifer did at the Celebration of Needlework event.

Jenifer returned from five days at the Celebration of Needlework event and Wednesday arrived so we decided to talk about her experiences, the projects she acquired, and her “restrained” shopping efforts. We also talk about what it’s like trying to fit in at an event such as this when you’re by yourself and don’t know anyone. For people who are basically introverts, it can be a challenge. We also touch on ergonomics in Gary’s upcoming studio, the various projects we have in play, and our upcoming Stitch Hour guests. Sunday’s guest: Susan Hoekstra.–Jenifer and Gary
