Fiber Talk with Lindsey Anne Gradolph

Design by Lindsey Anne Gradolph.

Lindsey Anne Gradolph is our guest this week in a show sponsored by the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. Lindsey draws her free-form embroidery color inspiration from her current home city of Tokyo, where she teaches English. “All of her work uses only second hand or vintage textiles to create colorful, vibrant, highly textural hand-stitched pieces. Through her work she aims to catalogue the passage of time, and investigate the relationship between color and form by making the unseen seen with simple needle and thread.” Lindsey does interesting work and brings a fresh perspective to the world of embroidery.–Beth and Gary

Encore: Fiber Talk with Anna Scott

Lyre bird design by Anna Scott.

House buying, packing, and moving activities are dominating the days and we’re going to have to take a two-week break from new Fiber Talk shows. We will have our regularly scheduled Stitch Hour tour at Gallery76 Wednesday, June 2 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. There will not be a Stitch Hour June 9. We’ll be back to our regular schedule on June 16. Thanks for understanding. To hold you over until we resume regular activities, this week we offer an encore presentation of a conversation we had last year with the talented Anna Scott, one of the top designers in the needle arts world and a regular contributor to “Inspirations” magazine. Learn about her design approach, ability to mix multiple techniques to achieve a design goal, and her dollhouse side hobby. Enjoy the show and we’ll be back in a couple of weeks.

“Start where you are and use what you have” is the takeaway from this week’s guest, Jennifer Clouston of Jennifer Clouston Embroidery. In our enlightening conversation with this talented embroidery and crazy-quilt designer and author, we explore several subjects including stream-of-consciousness stitching, various aspects of crazy-quilt design and stitching, and how living in Africa for most of her life has influenced Jennifer’s designs and approach to color. Much to learn and think about this week and we’re confident the show will get your creative juices flowing.–Beth and Gary
