Thank you, Gary and Beth, for your kind words about me and my work. The whole experience of receiving this medal has been quite surreal, but a lovely, lovely privilege to be recognised for something that so many of us love. Because it is so unusual to be awarded “for service to embroidery”, my award has received a lot of Australian mainstream media attention which is great for embroidery! Many stitchers around the world have been thrilled that the art and pastime that they enjoy has been honoured in this way.
