Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 2-10-21

Clothing embroidery by Beth Ellicott.

The day that begins with a W arrived so Beth and Gary decided to have a chat. After catching up on our stitching activities we found ourselves in a discussion about why we always feel the need to have a project if we’re going to stitch. Why not just stitch? That led to a our reactions to a live Jane Dunnewold Facebook session we attended this past Saturday and a discussion of the element of curiosity in the creative process. We also talked about doodle cloth use, warm-up stitching, and some Gay Ann Rogers thoughts. We enjoyed the conversation and it got our wheels spinning. We hope the same happens to you. Join us and guest Ronnie Rowe tonight for the Fiber Talk Stitch Hour at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on our YouTube channel. Sunday’s guest: Trish Burr-—Beth and Gary

Welcome Winter design by Debbie Rowley

We’re halfway to the weekend and Debbie and Gary are doing the chatting. Our focus is on online classes and how the technology and human dynamics are changing and will change the hobby, even after the pandemic. In our view, the changes will be long-lasting and help make needlework accessible to more people. We also talk about a free sampler download from Amanda Rowe, The Solitary Stitcher (Download Mary Jane Fry 1861 at wetalkfiber.com/mjf1861) and a new Cosmo thread club at Sassy Jacks Stitchery (20 skeins/month for $21 plus shipping. FTCOSMO gets you an additional five skeins of Fiber Talk Blues colors with first order). The link wetalkfiber.com/cosmo will be active in the next couple of days so you can join the club. Join us tonight for our Embroiderers Guild Galleries tour of the Festival of Lace at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on the Fiber Talk YouTube channel. Sunday’s guest: Jane Dunnewold-—Debbie and Gary
