Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 1-6-21

Detail from a 17th Century whitework sampler from the Thistle-Threads course.
Our holiday break has ended and the podcasting resumes. For our first Midweek Chat of the new year, Beth and Gary gather to talk about raising our needlework efforts to a new and more-creative level, the 17 Century Whitework Sampler class we’re both taking from Thistle Threads and what our early studies have taught us about advancing our needlework, modifying projects to better express what we see in the design, and those projects that require complete silence and full concentration. Join us tonight at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on the Fiber Talk YouTube channel when the weekly Stitch Hour show resumes with guest Dewn Rivera and his Mirabilia projects.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk with Cecilia Turner, Encore Presentation

Heart in Hand Square Dance series.

This is an encore presentation of a conversation I had in May 2019 with Cecilia Turner, the popular designer and owner of Heart in Hand Needleart. Cecilia’s career started with a prize winning design she submitted to “Classic Cross Stitch” magazine in 1991, and she’s provided a steady stream of innovative cross-stitch patterns since then. Among other series, Cecilia is known for her Wee Fruits and Wee Vegetables designs. Her latest series is the Square Dance monthly collection. It’s always fun and interesting to peek into the mind of a successful designer and I’m confident you’ll learn a lot from this conversation.–Gary
