Fiber Talk with Carol Cooke

Improv Embroidery by Carol Cooke

The book is “Improv Embroidery” and the author and this week’s guest is Carol Cooke. We spent just about the entire time talking about the book because it’s a unique approach to needlework that opens your mind to creativity at all levels. It’s an engaging conversation with a designer/needle artist who is thought-provoking, talented, and excellent at communicating how she goes about converting needle and thread into art that tells stories and is pleasing to her. That question: For whom do you make your needle art?, led to some interesting thoughts. Prepare to get your creativity wheels spinning and visit Carol’s website to obtain your copy of her new book.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 6-29-22

Mystery in St. Tropez by Sue Fitzsimmon.

Another week has blown by, but that’s OK because it gives us another chance to talk about needlework. This week Beth and Gary discuss the Gay Ann Rogers Mystery in St. Tropez project and how we’re going to stitch it, purchasing thread/canvas packs from Needle in a Haystack (needlestack.com), whether the word “challenge” scares people away from a project, EGA picking up Diana Snyder’s “Teach our Youth to Stitch” program, a new reticella book available from Mary Corbet, and making projects our own. Join us tonight, June 29, for the Fiber Talk Stitch Hour. It’s a Stitch and Chat night. We start at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on the Fiber Talk YouTube channel. Sunday’s guest: Carol Cooke–Beth and Gary
