Fiber Talk with Shana Benhayoun II

The new SBT Stitches store.

This week’s conversation with Shana Benhayoun is sponsored by the Embroiderers’ Guild of America at egausa.org. When we first talked with Shana in 2018, she was getting her painted-canvas design business underway and having great success creating original pieces that, in particular, had great appeal to younger stitchers. But painting canvases wasn’t enough for Shana. Since that conversation, she has created and opened a new store in the Miami area while continuing to create canvases on a limited basis. Shana is constantly stretching the envelope and her beautiful store is one more step in the journey. Enjoy our conversation and explore all that Shana has to offer at sbtstitches.com and on her social-media pages.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk with Amy and Memory Baker

The tempting thread wall at Barefoot Needleart, Surfside Beach, SC.

New needlework shops are always exciting and its fun to learn how they got started and all the work that goes on before the doors can open. This weeks’s guests, Amy and Memory Baker, are owners of the new Barefoot Needleart shop in Surfside Beach, SC. The shop is fulfillment of a dream for two ladies who have always loved cross stitch. Barefoot Needleart is open now and the grand opening is Sept. 18. In addition to learning how the shop was put together and the sweat that went into the thread wall, we discover that Amy and Memory love to stitch HAED designs and have discovered the amazing versatility of the Cricut machine. We hope you enjoy hearing about their journey and encourage you to support Barefoot Needleart.–Gary

Fiber Talk with Cathe Ray

Needle in a Haystack is celebrating 20 years of serving needleworkers.

Cathe Ray was a gospel singer and computer programmer before she decided to start a needlework store in which she would like to shop. She started Needle In A Haystack while she was working full time, then told the corporate world good bye and has now built one of the best sources for top-quality needlework supplies available to stitchers. This year she celebrates 20 years in business. Along the way she has been fortunate to have a talented staff that makes a difference in stitching success for in-store and online customers. It’s a tremendous story about a talented lady and we’re confident you’ll enjoy it.–Gary and Christine
