Fiber Talk with Karen Kluba II

Anchors of the Kingdom by Karen Kluba

It’s been more than two years since we talked with Karen Kluba of Rosewood Manor and it was great to get caught up with one of the hobby’s top cross-stitch designers. This week’s show is sponsored by Sassy Jacks Stitchery. Karen is not only one of the hobby’s best, but she’s extremely prolific and has the unique ability to produce a tremendous variety of design styles, using a wide range of color palettes. This week we delve into her creative process and learn about how she keeps that creative edge sharp, year after year. Be sure to visit her website gallery and call Sassy Jacks to purchase a Rosewood Manor kit.–Gary

Author Dawn Cook Ronningen joins us this week to talk about the book, her extensive collection of needlework tools, and her collecting addiction. The book is a must-have for anyone who uses needle and thread and enjoys the history of devices such as needles, thimbles, scissors, sewing rolls, hoops, fasteners, and measuring devices. Fiber Talk with Susan Kay-Williams and Kelley Aldridge

Coronation-Gold-Sarah-de-Rousset-Hall, Royal School of Needlework.

This week’s guests are Susan Kay-Williams, Chief Executive (l), and Kelley Aldridge (r), Future Tutors Course Leader at the Royal School of Needlework. We appreciate Sassy Jacks Stitchery for sponsoring the show. Our discussion focuses on the experiences the RSN has had adapting to pandemic restrictions, particularly how they have affected face-to-face instruction. While that’s interesting, the exciting part is that adapting to the restrictions is presenting many opportunities for needleworkers all over the world to participate in what will be a growing list of online-instruction courses from some of the best teachers in the world. If you’ve always wanted to learn from the experts at the Royal School, this is the time to subscribe to their newsletter and become familiar with their website because the opportunities will be plentiful. Note that technology was not our friend for this recording so there are some short segments in which the listening is a bit difficult. Overall, it’s a fascinating discussion that lays the groundwork for expanding your stitching experiences.–Gary
