Fiber Talk with Victoria Matthewson

Victoria Matthewson’s new book “Needlepainted Plants and Pollinators.”
A design from Victoria Matthewson’s new book.

Appreciation for pollinators has grown dramatically in recent years, along with increased sensitivity to widespread use of pesticides. Through her new book, “Needlepainted Plants and Pollinators,” this week’s guest, Victoria Matthewson, uses her embroidery art to shine a light on this issue. The book is a comprehensive guide to needlepainting, along with several designs of pollinators (many insects other than bees pollinate) and their favorite plants. We had a delightful conversation with this talented needle artist, learning about her needle-arts career, interest in insects and plants, and how she developed her new book. We also enjoy hearing about her terrific idea to build a sewing shed in her garden. Also, for a review of the book, be sure to visit Mary Corbet’s Needle ‘n Thread site at needlenthread.com.–Beth and Gary
