Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 10-11-23

Clara Warschauer’s goldwork frog.
It’s midweek chattin’ day and we’ve gathered to talk about EGA Virtual Lectures, Gary’s sampler progress, Jenifer’s new Under the Garden Moon class/project, Clara Warschauer’s frog goldwork project, temari stitching, learning from teachers/classes, making French knots, and the importance of stash storage space. Overrated/underrated topics this week are kits, Mary Corbet, and thread bobbins and drops. In the discussion, you may pick up on the fact that Jenifer is not a fan of thread drops. Sunday’s guest is textile artist Susan Fay Schauer John.–Jenifer and Gary

Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 2-15-23

Avlea Folk Embroidery stitching by Beth.

We’re, once again, two days from the weekend and it’s time to talk needlework. Topics for this Wednesday include a question from listener Sharon Saunders about buying linen when you don’t have a store, whether a stitch path is useful, sampler borders, challenging reproduction samplers from The Essamplaire, Lucky Jonquil thread drops, and a number of other topics. Mark your calendar for March 15, when Margaret Hagen will be our Stitch Hour guest so we can see more of her sampler collection. Sunday we have a great conversation about needlework techniques with Robin-Ann Rossignol.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk with Jennifer White

Swatch thread drops from Lucky Jonquil.
Bobbins for heavy threads from Lucky Jonquil.

This week’s show with Jennifer White of Lucky Jonquil is sponsored by the Embroiderers’ Guild of America and Avlea Folk Embroidery. Note that FIBERTALK5 gets you $5 off when you sign up for Katherine Diuguid’s EGA class, “Haystacks of Giverny.” In our conversation with Jennifer White, we talk about her creative career, her new business venture, and new thread organizer products. Jennifer has some excellent thread bobbins and drops that improve your thread storage while adding an element of fun. She also followed quite an interesting journey from needlework as a child to needlework as an adult, with lots of other things in between. Be sure to watch the Feb. 8 Fiber Talk Stitch Hour (wetalkfiber.com/jonquil). Jennifer was our guest and we got to see her thread drops and bobbins and talk about their features.–Gary
