Design from The French Needle.Lisa Dugua is my guest this week. Lisa is owner of The French Needle, an online store that specializes in needlework designs, kits, linen, jewelry, and scarves from French designers and suppliers. Lisa spends considerable time in France and provides us with an excellent view of that country’s needle-arts hobby and industry. The designers she features offer many beautiful and unique designs. If you’re not in the market for another needlework project, spend some time looking at the scarves on her website. They’ll tempt you.–Gary

I can not believe how you dismissed the Bayeau Tapestries – one of the landmark Tapestries in the World! It is 50 feet long and tells the history of The William the Conqueor and the conquest of England. It is noted for its story telling, compelling scenes and the massive stitching. It is coming to the UK under special arrangement With the French government. It is a treasure up there with Notre Dame. There are also the Cluny Tapestries – jbetter known at the Lady and the Unicorn. Great French needlework suppliers: AuVersSoie, Sajou, Bohin needles, Lesage, Annie Yarn , DMC.
Guess I wasn’t clear. I don’t dismiss it from a historical perspective. In fact, it impresses me on several historical fronts. That’s why I was curious about the needlework. In photos it always strikes me as somewhat crude, which is why I wanted a reaction from someone who has actually seen it. No doubt it’s an historical treasure. Gary

Our sponsors are CyberPointers and Sassy Jacks Stitchery and our guest is needlepoint artist Kevin Lustik. “Velvetpark” magazine said it best, “Lustik’s imaginative work evokes a folksy Americana, yet upon closer inspection, you are confronted by piercing social commentary. Few artists can pull off hot button issues of the day such as climate change and […]
