Holly Jackson of Flossing in the Moonlight joins us this week to talk about her mixed-media art and how she has moved quickly from starting to exhibiting and teaching her style of needle art. One of her current creation is the Chesapeake Skipjack Boat, on display as part of the Changing Chesapeake exhibition at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. It’s also a class Holly will be offering in the near future. Our discussion ranges from Holly’s approach to her love of stump-work and 3D designs. We also talk about her Mardi Gras float series, inspired by historic watercolor paintings in the Tulane Univ. collection. That leads to an exploration of New Orleans culture and art. Holly is an exciting young needle artist who is finding new areas of textile art. Visit her Flossing in the Moonlight (she’s a night owl) website to see more of her art and find out about upcoming classes.–Beth and Gary
