The stunning textile art of Lisa Call is our focus this week. Lisa grew up in Colorado in a creative environment. Creativity took a bit of a back seat when she chose computer science for a day job/career. An art museum tour connected her with abstract art and a move to New Zealand has allowed her to fully explore that art form. It’s fascinating to see how she uses the series approach to explore every aspect of a basic design. Although Lisa lives in NZ, some of her designs speak similarly to the Aboriginal art of Australia.
That’s interesting but probably not surprising. I’m sure artists who move around a lot get influenced by different cultures, probably without realizing it. Might be a good discussion for a podcast. Thanks for listening.
