Fiber Talk with Hannah Crump

Floral Lungs by Hannah Crump.
Hannah Crump’s “Make It At Market” coach and mentor.

Hannah Crump, of Juniper Forest Embroidery, uses her art to talk about the importance of nature on our health. This week’s show is sponsored by Sassy Jacks Stitchery and the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. Hannah has considerable education in textile designs, management, and marketing. Her business progress was curtailed by lifelong anxiety issues until she was selected for an episode on the BBC “Make It At Market” show. The preparatory work she did for that show, coaching she received, and the experience of filming her episode have provided her with a breakthrough that has helped move her anxiety aside and realize the potential of the business she built. In our conversation, we learn about her art and creative process, the impact of anxiety on her life, and we look behind the scenes of doing a TV show. Be sure to visit Hannah’s website and social media pages and support our sponsors. They make these shows possible.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk Remembers Carole Lake

Anasazi Song by Carole Lake

Carole Lake of Stitch Play Designs departed from us on January 5. If we can have legends in the needle arts community, Carole certainly was one. Her designs and books, solo or with her needlework partner Michael Boren, are some of the best we’ve seen and owning some or all of her books is almost essential for needlepointers. In addition to writing and designing, her classes were always in high demand. She achieved so much and gave so much to the needle arts community and we’ll all miss her, especially her family and stitching friends. To honor and remember Carole, this week we replay the Fiber Talk conversation we had with her in June 2018. Thank you, Carole, and rest in peace.—-Gary, Beth, Jenifer, and Cindy
