Fiber Talk with Kimberly Jolly

First release in the Prim Stitch Series by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet Co. Series runs from June 2020 to July 2021 at Fat Quarter Shop.

This week’s guest is Kimberly Jolly, owner of the Fat Quarter Shop. We have an enjoyable discussion about how Kimberly started her needlework career, transitioned from a corporate job to the Fat Quarter Shop, and moved that rapidly growing business out of a crowded house. We explore Kimberly’s stitching interests, the growth of her business, and how she manages an active business and family, and still finds time to stitch. Be sure to visit the Fat Quarter Shop website to explore the many projects they have to offer and check out her Flosstube show every Wednesday.–Gary

Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 6-26-19

Yvette Stanton’s “Early-Style Hardanger” book.
It’s Wishful Wednesday, Fat Quarter Shop is sponsoring the show, and Arlene and I are talking about some (note the operative word “some”) of the projects we have in our stash that we would really like to stitch but simply can’t seem to get into the rotation. If you’re curious about techniques other than the one you do all of the time, you’ll enjoy this week’s discussion. Among the techniques we talk about are Japanese bead embroidery, various kinds of whitework, Jacobean crewelwork, blackwork, embroidery, lace, gold work, and charted needlepoint. To see photos of the projects we discuss, watch the slide show on the Fiber Talk page for this podcast (below) or our FlossTube video. We also celebrate one of Arlene’s designs making the cover of “Just Cross Stitch” magazine. Sunday’s guest: Margaret (not Michelle) Lee on Japanese and Chinese embroidery.–Gary

Fiber Talk with Patricia Goodson

Arlene Cohen designed it an Pat Goodson stitched it as a gift to her.

Patricia Goodson is our guest this week as we welcome our new sponsor, Fat Quarter Shop. Visit them at fatquartershop.com for all of your stitching needs. Our guest is a multi-faceted needle artist who learned how to stitch while she was growing up in Brazil. This week, in addition to learning about her needlework skills, we get some advice about how to maximize our stitching time, improve concentration/focus, eliminate stress and pain, and make the most of our limited stitching time. Pat also regularly stands to stitch and explains the various benefits she’s realized from that approach. You’ll be a better stitcher at the end of this show.–Gary
