Trevelyon’s Garden by Kathy Andrews.

May is Mental Health Month and it’s important to discuss the subject at all levels to raise awareness and and encourage people in need to seek professional help. This week, in a show sponsored by Sassy Jacks Stitchery, Kathy Andrews, of The Unbroken Thread, joins Beth and Gary to explore the many aspects of mental health and the role needlework plays in helping people cope with long-term and daily stresses and mental issues. Note that we are not trained professionals and are only offering our thoughts and opinions. Needle Art and Breast Cancer with Kathy Andrews

Kathy Andrews, The Unbroken Thread
We hear time and time again about the meditative and calming powers of needlework, particularly when life gets difficult. Kathy Andrews of The Unbroken Thread joined us for the Dec. 8 Fiber Talk Stitch Hour to talk about how she used needle and thread to help her deal with the roller coaster ride of emotions and reactions that accompanied her battle against breast cancer. Whether it’s cancer, death of a loved one, or some other challenging moment in life, Kathy is a shining example of how you can use stitching to keep yourself from losing it. “It’s cheaper than therapy.”

Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 11-24-21

Backstitching is bringing this one to life for Jenifer.

Wednesday seemed like a good day for a conversation about needlework so Jenifer and Gary fired up the microphones to do a complete rundown of how WIPgo works, what attracts us to designs and designers, cleaning up stitching areas, and whether social media has played a role in us having too many WIPs. Mark your calendars for Dec. 8 when Kathy Andrews will share the art stitching she did while battling breast cancer. Sunday: A tour of Gary’s “sanitized” studio.–Jenifer and Gary
