Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 4-10-24

Elizabethan Treasures from Linda Barry, considered by Jean to be one of the best whitework samplers ever published.

It’s Midweek Chat week and Beth and Gary connected through our respective internet providers to talk about eyeglasses and what we learned from Kelly Lea Teske, supporting Ukraine designer Ekaterina at stitchyprincess.etsy.com, selecting projects vs. being influenced by stitching friends, projects we have that need to be at the top of the pile, stitching in groups vs. alone, whether we could produce an exhibition with our finished pieces, stitching lights/magnifiers, group projects, choosing silk or metallic threads, and whether we would rather have talent or determination. Sunday’s guest is the Nashville Needlepointed, Lita O’Hara.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk with Jane Garrison

Cezanne’s peonies and pearls design made with Painter’s Threads.
Painter’s Threads threads and ground cloth make a colorful design.
Our guest this week is Jane Garrison from Threadnuts/The Painter’s Threads Collection. The show is sponsored by the Embroiderers’ Guild of America at egausa.org. Jane is a wholesale provider of a wide range of thread types, all marketed as the Painter’s Threads Collection. These are not your typical overdyed threads. They provide a unique look that can be used to enhance/embellish your needlework. In our discussion we learn about the thinking behind the thread dye schemes and discuss how they might be used. While talking with Jane, Beth somehow absconded with one of Gary’s painted canvases so she can use Painter’s Threads to stitch it. Will it get mailed? Also, mark your calendars. Jane will be our guest on the Fiber Talk Stitch Hour show, Aug. 30 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Join us on the Fiber Talk YouTube channel to see the how the threads are used and what they can do for your needlework.–Beth and Gary
