Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 10-11-23

Clara Warschauer’s goldwork frog.
It’s midweek chattin’ day and we’ve gathered to talk about EGA Virtual Lectures, Gary’s sampler progress, Jenifer’s new Under the Garden Moon class/project, Clara Warschauer’s frog goldwork project, temari stitching, learning from teachers/classes, making French knots, and the importance of stash storage space. Overrated/underrated topics this week are kits, Mary Corbet, and thread bobbins and drops. In the discussion, you may pick up on the fact that Jenifer is not a fan of thread drops. Sunday’s guest is textile artist Susan Fay Schauer John.–Jenifer and Gary

Fiber Talk with Mary Corbet 7

Mary’s monogram from the “Sea to Stitch” book.

Mary Corbet returns this week for a conversation that has been too long in coming. We also welcome new sponsor Stitchville USA (stitchville.com). Our conversation with Mary includes the impact of the pandemic on needlework; books, books, and more books; the quest to learn; and managing stitching spaces, in addition to various other tidbits. We trust you’ll enjoy the show and, if you aren’t doing so already, encourage you to sign up for the Needle ‘n Thread newsletter, follow Mary’s blog, and take advantage of her numerous tutorials.–Gary

Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 7-7-21

Beth is going to stitch this painted canvas.

Seven days have passed since we last did this Midweek Chat thing and time has given us more to talk about. This week Beth and Gary begin exploring painted-canvas needlepoint projects, talk about Gary’s studio progress, and talk about using historical art and designs in today’s needle arts. Are we being honoring those in the past? Being respectful? Keeping old things alive so history isn’t forgotten. No clear answer but a topic worth discussing. Sunday’s guest: Ekta Kaul–Beth and Gary
