Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 5-29-19

Lucy Navier 1818 from Hands Across the Sea Samplers.

It’s Video Wednesday and I have two of them for you, both made with Jean Lea during my recent visit to The Attic Needlework shop in Mesa, AZ. The first is a tour of Lucy Navier 1818, the Hands Across the Sea Samplers 2019 Queen of the May reproduction. It’s a design with several elements that will intrigue anyone who loves reproduction samplers. The second is a video I’ve wanted to do for some time. Jean treated all of us to a rather extended discussion of her all-time and/or current favorite samplers. It also became obvious during the video that she has a bad case of startitis. I hope you enjoy hearing Jean talk about her favorite subject. In addition, remember that tomorrow and Friday I’m at Sassy Jacks for the Bathya workshop with Nicola Parkman. Watch for more interviews and videos. Sunday’s guest: Vonna joins me to interview Jacob deGraaf of Modern Folk Embroideries. There will also be a discount on his designs.–Gary

Fiber Talk at 2019 Nashville Market II

Taking a break from the action to post a couple of videos. Here’s what’s new from The Scarlett House, Shakespeare’s Peddler, and a special Rosewood Manor encore for listener Rose Rose.

Tanya Brockmeyer of The Scarlett House is going with a dog theme this year. In the video she shows a wide range of new designs, including Gary’s favorite Christmas design.

Theresa Venette of Shakespeare’s Peddler has several new designs including A Saviour’s Praise and Louisa Horsey 1836.

Listener Rose Rose requested a special viewing of one of the older Rosewood Manor designs, so Karen Kluba was happy to help out.

Today’s show is definitely different and a bit of an experiment. Gary and Vonna are devoting the entire show to some of the new designs being offered at the Nashville Market, March 1 to 3. While you can certainly simply listen to the podcast and get plenty out of it, we’re accompanying this show with a slide show of some of the designs we like and want to talk about. To see those designs while we talk about them, go to the page for this show at wetalkfiber.com. If you click on the slide show on the podcast page, you’ll see a larger version. Arrows on the left and right of each photo allow you to move through the slideshow. We hope you enjoy our discussion and this different format. Please provide feedback about this format so we’ll have a sense of whether it works. Sunday’s guest: Mary Corbet.
