Fiber Talk with Hillary Waters Fayle

Design by Hillary Waters Fayle on a ginkgo leaf.
Hillary Waters Fayle creates needle-and-thread art at a whole new level. The Virginia Commonwealth Univ. assistant professor uses leaves as her ground cloth. In our conversation, we learn how she developed the technique, the challenges it provides, and how interaction with nature inspires her. We also learn about her university program, cutting shapes in leaves, creating art with snake scales, and botanical blueprints/sun printing. Hillary is a fascinating, versatile, and talented artist who is at the cutting edge of the needle arts. She will also join us live this Wednesday, Jan. 26, on the Fiber Talk Stitch Hour at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Join us on the Fiber Talk YouTube channel.–Beth and Gary
