Fiber Talk with Kim Young III

This Bristol sampler is one of many new charts that will be produced by Sassafras Samplers.
Sassy Jacks Stitchery will have a new home in the spring of 2022.
This week’s guest is Kim Young of Sassy Jacks Stitchery. In 2022, Sassy Jacks is celebrating five years since Kim opened the brick-and-mortar store. For small businesses, the past five years have been more than a challenge, particularly in the needlework world. In the conversation, we learn some of what Kim has experienced since she opened the doors and what she has planned when they move into their new home, the Baird House, sometime this spring. We also learn about what lies a head for Sassafras Samplers, Kim’s reproduction sampler brand. It’s a fascinating story with a very bright and exciting future. We’re confident you’ll enjoy the conversation and encourage you to plan a trip to visit the new Sassy Jacks store this spring.–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 4-6-22

Fiber Talk listeners have provided a small mountain of thread for the Stitch Sainte Luce ladies.
It’s Wednesday and we’re chatting after a week off. This week’s topics include the tremendous response we’ve received for the Stitch Sainte Luce Womens’ Cooperative effort, the montage project Debbie of Country Stitchers is doing and Beth is stealing, stitching under pressure and/or projects you have to stitch when you’d rather do something else, taking a mental break from stitching, the role of time in creating, and we discover that Beth may be willing to do some goldwork. Wonders never cease. Join us tonight for the Fiber Talk Stitch Hour at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. We’ll be working on painted canvas projects and talking about whatever comes up. You’ll find us on the Fiber Talk YouTube channel. Sunday’s guest: Kim Young–Beth and Gary

Fiber Talk with Emily Tull

And Her Cheeks Were As Pink as Blossoms by Emily Tull.
Woman with a Fish by Emily Tull.

Emily Tull is one of those unique artists who uses embroidery to raise the overall level of her art. Her focus these days is faces and she is in the middle of an ongoing quest to create, with thread and a variety of ground-cloth materials, the best expression of what she sees in her mind. Though a skilled oil painter, she wanted more out of her art and needle and thread provided the look and expression she wanted. It’s always fun to explore the mind of a true artist and the conversation with Emily was a terrific ride. After you enjoy the conversation, be sure to visit her website and Instagram pages to enjoy her creations.–Gary
