Fiber Talk with Clare Hunter II

Miao embroidery from the book Threads of Life.

Clare Hunter, author of “Threads of Life,” returns for a second show, this time sponsored by Sassy Jacks Stitchery. This week we talk with Clare about the inspiration behind her book, the work that went into assembling all of the historical information, writing a history book and making it easy to read, and some of the people who helped make it possible. We also gain some additional insight into some of the people and historical events she experienced while writing “Threads of Life.”–Gary

Fiber Talk Instagram Live, 10-25-19

This is the Instagram Live show that Vonna and Gary did on Oct. 25. The technical aspect didn’t go particularly well so the quality is not terrific. Nonetheless, if you missed the live event, we hope you enjoy the recording. Gary and Vonna

This week’s guest is designer, teacher, and author, Ann Strite-Kurz. Ann is certified in canvas embroidery by the National Academy of Needlearts (NAN) and teaches regularly at seminars sponsored by the Embroiderers’ Guild of America and the American Needlepoint Guild. She also holds a Master Craftsman certificate in canvas from EGA. She has authored ten books and is an expert at using diaper patterns in her designs. As you’ll hear, she’s also expert at explaining to Gary what defines a diaper pattern. Out of all of that expertise also comes a large portfolio of innovative designs. Fiber Talk with Jenny Adin-Christie

Passiflora in stump work by Jenny Adin-Christie.

This week I’m joined by Jenny Adin-Christie. She is a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework and a veteran teacher at the school. Her primary needlework efforts these days involve creating her own designs and teaching all over the world, along with regular classes in her own studio. She also is a regular contributor to Inspirations magazine. Most of her work involves various combinations of whitework, stumpwork, and goldwork. Enjoy my conversation with one of the standout talents in the needle-arts community.–Gary
