  1. Not sure what a floss tube video is. Using only threads like DMC on the handwork?

    1. Joanne,
Floss Tube is a relatively large group of videos that needleworkers post on YouTube, primarily to share what they are doing with their stitching projects. Among my favorites are Arlene Cohen, Vonna Pfeiffer (The Twisted Stitcher), and Nicole Neville (Nicole’s Needlework). The best way to handle things is to sign in to YouTube so it creates an account for you. I use my gmail email address to sign in. Then, search for Floss Tube people, such as the three I mentioned above. If you find someone you enjoy, subscribe to them and you’ll get notified each time they post a new video. You can accomplish the same thing by logging in on your computer or using the YouTube app on your phone or tablet. Be careful. Watching Floss Tube videos can suck up a lot of stitching time. 😉
Good luck, enjoy, and thanks for listening to Fiber Talk.

  2. Christine and Gary – I really enjoyed this today – always something interesting to hear! Christine I had a brianwave while I was listening – – have you heard of Craftsy? They are an online business that does classes for all sorts of things. I highly recommend Celeste Chalasani’s Craftsy series “Raised Embroidery Essentials” and also Lucy Barter’s Craftsy series “Goldwork – Essential Techniques”. You pay for the series – and the cost is very reasonable – but then you have access forever so it’s a great way to learn and to revise. Celeste Chalasani I think teaches for EGA and Lucy Barter is with the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design – so they are highly qualified and experienced teachers. I have both series and they are extremely useful.

    1. Wendy,
Thanks for listening and for the suggestions. I have Celeste on my list for a possible future guest. Her work is rather terrific.

  3. Hi Gary and Christine- I’m enjoying your podcasts during my commute in Melbourne Australia. Two speakers I heard at Beating around the bush in Adelaide would be great on your show. Hazel Blomkamp is talented and wickedly articulate. Jane Nicholas is a class act. Susan O’Connor editor of Inspirations is very talented and knowledgeable and Kristian who owns Inspirations is a very cluey business person modernising the magazine and holding the amazing bi-annual Adelaide conference. Any of those people would be fascinating and inspirational.
    Thanks for what you do.
    Kate

    1. Thanks for listening. Glad we can join you for your commute. We also appreciate the guest suggestions. They’re added to the list.
