The Queen’s Sampler by Linda Vinson.

It’s Wednesday once again and I have a very different show for you this week. First, a short podcast update about what has transpired for me in the past week in terms of needlework. Then, the main element this week is a video I recorded with Linda Vinson of Needlemade Designs in which we explore, in quite a bit of detail, her version of Darleen O’Steen’s The Queen’s Sampler. I hope you enjoy the video and our conversation. This isn’t your standard cross-stitch sampler. Far from it. It’s a multi-technique work of art stitched by a master stitcher. I’m excited to provide this video and welcome your reactions. Sunday’s guest: Kim Young of Sassy Jacks Stitchery–Gary

I hope you enjoy this week’s special video presentation. I’m always looking for guests, so let me know if there is someone you’d like me to have on the show.

  1. Wow, wow and WOW! What an incredible sampler! I really enjoyed the video, you did a great job!

    1. Thanks and thanks for watching/listening. It is a special piece of needlework.

  2. Gary, thank you so much for this – fabulous video and just so informative! The sampler is, of course stunning – – and Linda Vinson’s special treatment has created a masterpiece. I loved watching!

    1. Glad you enjoyed it. It’s a special piece of needle art.

  3. Garry I’ve just been listening to you talk to Vonna about stitching your Christmas Santa cross stitch ornaments that you wanted to do as stand ups. I don’t like stitching with two threads either. You should try the new 12 wt Sulky Petites. It’s cotton and is equivalent to stitching with 2 strands of DMC.

    1. Jodie,
Thanks for listening. I’ve wondered about the Sulky threads. I gather you find the quality to be good, especially consistent thread width? I’ll give a serious look. I think Kim at Sassy Jacks carries them so I’ll be able to do a first-hand evaluation at the end of the month. Appreciate the suggestion,
      Gary

      1. Gary I’ve not stitched with them yet but a friend of mine has just bought the whole 2 sets. I’ll be interested to hear what you think and may consider buying them.

        1. They’re on my “consideration” list. Thanks for listening.

  4. This was a great show 🙂 I am reasonably new to stitching and have been dabbling in all sorts of areas. This made me want to attempt counted work because of all the different stitches, threads and effects. I know one of your intentions is to encourage new stitchers – thanks Gary you are doing a fabulous job!!

    1. Fiona,
Thanks for listening and the kind words. Glad you enjoy the shows and that they are encouraging your stitching.
      Gary
