Fiber Talk with Kim Young II

Sassy Jacks Stitchery is located in Weaverville, NC.

Kim Young is my guest this week. Kim is the owner of Sassy Jacks Stitchery in Weaverville, NC, and always has some interesting insights into the dynamics of the needle-arts hobby, particularly today’s needleworker-LNS relationship and the role that the internet and social media is playing in how we learn about and buy needlework supplies. We also talk about people returning to the hobby, young people, embroidery growth, upcoming workshops, framing reversible samplers, darning samplers, charted needlepoint, and new designs from the global marketplace. It’s always a treat to talk to Kim about needlework and I hope you find the show enjoyable and informative.–Gary

  1. I really enjoyed listening to this podcast as I am one of those returning to cross stitch after a break of about 20 years. I do mainly handspinning and knitting but also all the others quilting/machine embroidery/crochet etc, etc. However, after showing my daughter-in-law how to start a birth sampler she wanted to sew, I discovered the wonderful world of cross stitch again via the internet and Flosstube. Wow have things changed!!! So much choice of threads and even hand dyed fabric! Needless to say I am back stitching like mad and have even joined in with Stitch Maynia. If anybody would have told me a month ago I would be back cross stitching I would have laughed in their face! Just shows you how wrong you can be! I live in the United Kingdom by the way and we don’t have many needlework shops here so most of the purchasing is done online. Keep up the good work with your podcasts and happy stitching!

    1. Rachel,
So glad you’ve renewed your stitching activities. Yes, it’s a very different world these days. Thanks also for listening to Fiber Talk,
      Gary
