Fiber Talk Midweek Chat, 10-16-19

Elizabeth Foote’s Flowers design by Arlene Cohen.
It’s been a full month since Arlene and Gary gathered for a Wednesday chat. It was good to catch up and to talk about teaching needlework to young children, the Halo Bolt backup battery, Jessica Grimm and the Modern Folk Embroidery Agnes Dei Lenten SAL, band samplers, and new HATS introductions. Sunday’s guest: Rachel Winters–Arlene and Gary

  1. We tried to teach children how to cross stitch. For the young ones – 6 thru 9 especially boys. I would use plastic canvas with yarn – acrylic yarn in bright bold colors and plastic needles. The girls will settle down and try. Boys get bored easily. Just first hand experience. The older children may be able to hit a six count or 10 count Aida.

    1. Thanks. That plastic canvas/needles and yarn approach seems to be the general advice. Likely how I’ll approach the effort. Appreciate your feedback and thanks for listening.

  2. Have you heard about the new Halo Go lamp — it contains a rechargeable battery. No separate battery pack required. I have not seen it on Amazon yet, but I bought mine from the Silver Needle at Needlework Galleria. I LOVE it because it is so portable, just plug it into charge at night, ready to use!

    1. Had not heard of that one. Sounds convenient. Thanks for letting me know.
