Fiber Talk Bristol Sampler Weekend

Original Bristol Orphanage pattern book owned by Claudia Dutcher Kistler
Bristol Orphanage Sampler Weekend with Claudia Dutcher Kistler at Sassy Jacks Stitchery was a terrific weekend of learning and stitching. More than 70 needleworkers gathered in the beautiful upstairs meeting room above Sassy Jacks and the Five Little Monkeys Quilt and Sew shop owned by Angie Lamoree to hear Claudia share her extensive knowledge of the Bristol Orphanage and the many samplers that were generated by the girls who lived there. Throughout the weekend, Vonna and Gary produced nine videos to help you experience some of the activities. Those videos, and resource links, are provided below and on our YouTube page. We hope you enjoy the viewing.–Vonna and Gary

    1. Sorry you haven’t heard back from Kim. You can find links to her newsletters and a place to subscribe to them on the Sassy Jacks home page: https://www.sassyjacksstitchery.com

  2. It was such fun to ‘almost’ be a part of the weekend! Thank you Gary and Vonna for the video coverage. Now I’ve got to call Sassy Jack’s to enquire about some of the products I learned about…
    😉

  3. Lovely videos. Thanks for letting us come along for the virtual ride! Really looking forward to you interviewing Claudia.

On the shop tour you guys were looking at the cozy blue handmade kits. I’d love it if you could get Liz, the woman behind it, on the show. I’ve been in her monthly stitch club for almost a year and it’s terrific fun to get a package with a mystery kit at the beginning of the month.

Thanks for all you do to

    1. Thanks. I’ll see what I can do about getting Liz to do a show with us.

  4. Gary and Vonna, thank you for uploading the videos for those of us who could only be there in spirit.
Gary you mentioned about the banding you bought from sassy jack, can you tell me how much you bought and how wide are the banding? You and Vonna should start a SAL on stitching on the banding.

    1. I bought 18-in. and 24-in. lengths of 5-in.-wide banding with blue stripes on the edges. Kim has a significant collection of banding in a wide variety of widths and edge finishes. Thanks for listening.

  5. I just wanted to let you know how much I’m enjoying your podcast and these videos in particular! I started stitching when I was 16 and continued right up until I started an in home day care and homeschooling my daughter. Time was limited and I couldn’t leave things laying about with other kids around. I picked up knitting at that time. Last year I was challenged to put something in our fair as a 4H leader. It seemed only fair since I spend my time asking the kids to enter things! That got me back to needlework and at the most opportune moment. The knitting community has gone crazy in the last year! So much hatred and “need” for political stances. It is a relief to see that has not happened in the needlework community and that people can stay on the subject we can all agree and be kind to one another. Thank you for all you do!!

    1. Thanks for your story and for listening. Glad you enjoyed the shows.
      Gary
